Paul Klee's Red Balloon Sculpture

For this project, we tried to make Pauk Klee's painting titled "Red Ballon" into a 3D sculpture. We painted wood blocks with the colors used in the painting. The red balloon stands out when looking at the painting, so we wanted to portray that feeling by having a real balloon.

Paul Klee used a lot of bright colors in his painting, so we painted the wood with equally bright paint. We lacked the texture of the painting, but instead went for a more colorful and bright feel to the sculpture.

The shadows in the images of the sculpture add a realistic skyline effect for the buildings. The angle we used to take the pictures gives a more perspective view of the sculpture than a straight on view. The background and shadows give balance to the bright colors of the foreground.

Winning

I wanted to show victory in the form of a sculpture, so I choose Usain Bolt's victory pose as my inspiration for the pose in the sculpture. I was inspired by Rodin because of his sculptures of people. I wanted the sculpture to be focused on the pose and upper body specifically because that is the essence of the moment.
